Kindle 2 Review – Pros
We’ve done the work for you and reviewed the Amazon Kindle 2
1. Amazon is offering in excess of 300,000 book on its Kindle store, not including free public domain books. That’s the largest selection currently available for any eReader on the market. However, Sony and Barnes & Noble are soon to follow.
2. The Whispersybc options, enables you to share books with your friends and also share the exact line/section that you’re currently reading.
3. The Kindle 2 Read To Me Feature is actually playing the book using voice. A perfect solution for blind people.
4. Amazon are getting better with their designs. The Kindle 2 design is more user friendly than the Kindle 1
5. 16 level gray scale screen is much sharper than the original Kindle’s 4 shade gray-scale. A few reviewers have been very taken by the improvement in the screen, and I have to admit it looks much better.
6. 25% more battery life – This isn’t a plus since it’s balanced out by not being able to replace the battery.
7. Up to 2GB of internal memory, however, it is not possible to expand memory
8. Eco friendly solution, saving cutting of trees for paper.
9. At $259 the Kindle 2 is a great return on investment.
10. The Kindle 2 now has international version. That means you can travel with your Amazon Kindle abroad!
Kindle 2 Disadvantages
1. Still not pretty. Some people do find it pretty now – Perhaps I’m biased by the plain white color and plain design.
2. The lack of a color screen is another problem I have.
3. The Kindle 2 still uses buttons instead of a touch screen.
4. Lack of a replaceable battery.
5. No option of using the Kindle 2 as a personal storage device as there are no SD slots for memory cards.
6. Does not support PDF files. That means all students majoring in business won’t be able to see all those complicated charts. That goes for architecture students too.
Should I buy the Amazon Kindle 2?
1. Great return for your money. At $259, the Amazon Kindel 2 is a great buy.
2. With the current price, and the Kindle 2 going international, I believe upgrading your Kindle 1 to the 2nd generation is a good call.
