Play Areas Structures And Corner Trim

A recent study in New York City found that there were more safety risks due to maintenance related hazards in playgrounds in low-income areas. These areas were reported to have more rust, more rubbish and poorly maintained surfaces and equipment. They also seriously lacked corner trim and protection. Low cost playground equipment is usually low cost because it is not as safe or as good quality as more expensive stuff. Are these the category of playgrounds you want your children play on? Most parents would want to give their children the safest environment in which to play. The increased safety and quality benefits that you get with better playground equipment does make the extra money it costs worth it.

Commercial playground companies offer a service of updating products for safer and more durable products for the children to play on. These companies charge extra to ensure that playing is safe and the equipment will not get damaged. Some playgrounds still feature equipment with wooden supports and beams which can have splinters in them. However, the safest play equipment features steel supports which not only decrease safety hazards, but also withstand time and weathering much better than wood structures. The suppliers will also install corner trim onto the play area which can increase durability and absorb any impacts which occur.

Many of the poorer playgrounds have a flooring made from concrete or asphalt which can be unsafe for children. It can crack and change with the heat but it can also be very hard when children fall on it so injuries are more likely. Rubber tiles are what playground flooring should be covered in because it is softer for falls and sturdy enough to face the elements.

Many of the bigger playground suppliers will customise the equipment you want to match your requirements. Your play area will be unique if you find a company who allow you to mix and match the equipment. You can even get age specific play stuff so that it challenges them whilst being fun.
