How to Get Rid of Harmful Bed Bugs

If you notice you have unwelcome visitors in your bed, then it is time to do something about it. Bed bugs are a pesky bug that feeds off blood. They are an absolute nuisance and hence if you want riddance from them, it is important to take the right steps so as to wipe them out completely not only from the bedroom, but from your home altogether.

Bed bugs stick to the luggage, beds and other things which we normally carry during our travel and make a clean entry into our homes. Once they make themselves at home they are very hard to get rid of.

It calls for a lot of tolerance and endurance to wipe them out completely from your homes. Bed bugs love the darkness and come out during the night and make our lives miserable. They do not require food to survive and many a time can go without food for as long as 12 months. Contributing to their hard to rid nature, bed bugs lay around 300 eggs and it only takes ten days for them to hatch. They eat blood that they get from biting you.

The one indication you may have that you have bed bugs are the bites you will get. Some of the bed bugs die during the process of sucking the blood from the human body and thus you might come across some bed bugs which are not alive lying on the floor with stains of blood.

It is important to stick to a serious and dedicated plan so as to wipe them out completely.

Laundry items need to be put in plastic bags and kept in the dryer. Other household goods should be properly wrapped in plastic bags and placed either in warmer areas or cooler areas at least for a fortnight. The other items need to be properly vacuumed and special care should be taken by ensuring that the vacuum bag is disposed off right then. Steam cleaning the room is also a good idea.

Specialized pest control services need to be hired so that all possible traces of bed bugs are completely wiped out. If your bedding is completed infiltrated with these pests, make sure to dispose off the mattress right away, as no amount of pesticide is going to be of any use. The treatment process to get rid of bed bugs needs to be repeated until the bugs are completely gone.

You should vacuum and steams clean on a regular basis and also go in for laundering linens and other bedding items.
