Five Easy Ways To Start Living Eco-consciously
Today many people are feeling the crunch of the weak US economy. Fortunately, that has forced a number of people to think more about how much energy they consume and what kind of environmental impacty they are having. If you’re one of the many that have thought about doing your part to make a difference, but don’t know where to start, here are five simple things you can start doing that will make a difference.
Start using compact florescent lights (CLFs) in your house. It’s estimated that they use 75% less energy than regular bulbs, last longer, and work just as well.
Get some reusable shopping bags and start using them. Paper and plastic account for over 40% of waste every year and consume energy and pollute the environment during production. Using reusable bags can literally save thousands of plastic bags.
Start using washable rags & towels around the house instead of paper towels. Wash them in cold water for some additional energy savings!
Reuse dish or bath water to water plants or complete other chores that require water than can be dirty.
Use rechargeable batteries to reduce the amount of toxic waste that you dispose of.
This is just five of the hundreds of things you can do to help conserve our environment. Living green isn’t complicated, and doing small things can be very beneficial.
