Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy
When you think about solar energy, you may think of those funky looking houses that have those weird looking panels on them. solar energy has many uses beyond those of producing electricity for houses or for automobiles. The advantages and disadvantages of solar power are many, small electrical contraptions can be powered by solar energy in lieu of a battery bank or any outlet plug-in. contraptions such as cell phones, GPS units, and laptops can be solar energyed. The major disadvantage is that they only produce energy when they are in direct sunlight.
Here are some additional advantages and disadvantages of solar power. You can redesign and customize your solar panels and battery storage to collect any amount of energy you wish up to the threshold. After the threshold, or when the battery storage is full, the solar energy is just being reflected from the solar panels. The battery should be compatible with the device you want to use it for. How many times have you been out fishing or camping and your cellphone battery storage goes out? Most people carry cellphone adapters for their automobiles so that they may recharge the battery storage in their automobile. This is fine if the engine is on or the engine has been used to charge the battery storage in the automobile. But running the engine is a cause of pollutants and other toxic materials which you are releasing out into the environment just by charging up your cellphone.
By having a cellphone solar powered battery charger, you are able to take your cellphone outside and leave the solar photovoltaic cells out in the sunlight. You can even do this inside on a windowsill that is directly influenced by the sunlight. You don’t have to worry about where to plug in your charger, you just have to worry about where the sunlight is and how long the solar panel needs to stay out to charge a battery storage. It is convenient and easy-to-use, granted thatit is a little expensive.
As electronic components advances and the demand for solar powered implements increases, prices should go down and the electronic components should be accelerated. Right now only 1% of all dwellings in the North America are powered by solar energy. If we think outside the box and go beyond the home there is an entire world of instruments that can be powered by the sun. All it takes is a little imagination and a little investigation and someday soon we will be out of the grips of fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy. There are plenty of advantages and disadvantages of solar power but the advantages are far out weighing the disadvantages and as electronic components moves forward, this gap will only get bigger.
