Future Advancments In Recycling

The New Focus With Recycling Recycling Paper

Most people who have trash service are familiar with the idea of recycling plastic bottles. After all, they are the most common type of plastic product that people deal with on a regular basis. When you attend a sporting event like a soccer game, inside the stadium you can find recycling bins for them just about everywhere.
The other type of plastic that also typically finds its way into our hands, as consumers is plastic bags.Fortunately, there are tons of ways you can reduce plastic bag usage and recycle the bags. It’s easy to start with the plastic bags recycling centers will accept.

A good rule of thumb to remember is that plastic bags with a mark of 4 or 2 are completely recyclable. Another tip to keep things going smoothly with your recycling efforts is that every bag to be recycled should be clean and dry.
One thing that gardeners tend to forget is to recycle their potting soil. When you need to replant your vegetable containers you should remove the old soil and distribute it out in the garden where the soil level has gone low or create an organic compost pile for a future use.

A Growing Problem With Recycling Metal Computer Recycling

Throughout the world waste is contributing to a growing problem of disposal that doesn’t have a strong solution in the immediate future. As the economies of China, India and other developing countries grow with no uniform policies put into place that examine and identify disposal in ways that involve auto recycling , recovery and minimizing the impact on the environment and the population, there exists a trend towards pollution that may expand and get out of hand.

Waste management worldwide is a growing concern. Many developing countries have promising futures, but one of the ways in which the country must adapt to their growing culture and civilization is to provide modern and sufficient waste management services that can meet the needs of the country while adapting positive strategies for the future.

Future Advancements in Recycling Recycling Oil

So, what does our future hold for recycling plastic? In the sort term, countries with increased investment in recycling infrastructure and over all improvements in the ease at which they recycle should continue to benefit. More and more cities are going to semi-automated sorting and co-mingled collection, even when self-sorting had been a long-established norm.

However, over the long term, the goal of increasing the number of products that are biodegradable and can be recycled is the most important. New and exciting increases in recycling efficiency and the ability to create an even more pure recycled product is also in the cards.

Over the next few decades, there will be a increase in the price of energy as the world population grows. As such, the need for recycling and reusing will continue to make it a more attractive option. Increases in energy efficiency in the recycling plastic process will also be major area for researchers and investors.

Industrial Chemicals And Water Pollution

Industrial Chemicals And Air Quality Environmental Education

When the production of a given pesticide is halted due to environmental or health concerns doesn’t mean that it will be going anywhere, any time soon. Consider DDT. The production of this pesticide and highly reactive toxin is still being found in soils and groundwater, decades after it was in use . In fact, the breakdown chemical DDE can still be found in very high levels in the bodies of people and animals who were exposed many years previously and in the groundwater supplies.

Ways We Can Learn About Waste Management Air Pollution

These chemicals persist for several reasons. For starters, they bind fatty tissues, or lipids, that people use to store energy for later use. Fat cells are not created or destroyed over the life of an organism – they simply fill up or shrink down. Also, many of the original or breakdown chemicals remain in the soils. They remain tightly bound to soil particles and minerals until something “knocks” them loose.

There are any number of causes and any number of “villains” to blame. Environmental degradation and pollution is a common culprit. Simple Darwinism is another. Over hunting is yet another. Whatever the cause, however, the result is the same. A population of animals vanishes forever with no possibility of being encountered again. The story of environmental pollution and degradation has been, throughout human history.
Insect species go extinct every day along with Animal populations, with their birth rate and ever-changing environment, whole families and subfamilies and variant species vanish forever.

Recently the aerial spraying of a pesticide has come under fire in northern California. The pest is called LABM(light brown apple moth). The moth causes extensive damage to food crops, trees and ornamentals. An environmental group has filed a lawsuit calling for a halt to the spraying claiming the EPA failed to conduct safety tests on the pesticides sprayed. Hundreds of people reported respiratory injuries. The following days after the spraying occurred residents of Santa Cruz, California were finding dead or dying birds along the beaches. It is believed that the pesticide strips away the natural oils from their feathers causing them to die from the cold or drown.

Everyone Can Learn About Air Quality Waste Management

We may stop and think of the seriousness of water pollution when we find out about a major sewage spill, but our everyday actions may be contributing to this pollution issue. Poor septic tanks and phosphate cleaning agents are contributors too.

Everyone contributes to air pollution. It’s hard not to because every action has a reaction and that reaction releases chemicals. Due to major fines and bad press, some companies have gotten better at monitoring their output. Car manufacturers include emission systems, but we use our cars at record-breaking levels. With the new U.S. administration indicating that there will be a different environmental policy we will see a change for the better. It will come down to the balance of good air produced by Mother Nature to bad air produced by human usage.

Reusable Grocery Bags Are A Better Alternative Than Paper Bags

In a world that is definitely becoming more eco-sensitive by the moment, many people still think that paper bags are a better choice than plastic bags. They aren’t.

According to a 2006 report from the US Environmental Protection Agency, paper makes up more than 30 percent of our municipal solid waste. Over 10 billion paper bags are consumed each year in the United States alone. In other words, there are 14 million trees harvested for their production.

When compared to plastic grocery bags, paper bags produce 70 percent more atmospheric emissions, consume 40 percent more energy, generate 80 percent more solid waste, and release up to 94 percent more waterborne wastes (According to the Film and Bag Federation).

This tells us that the energy consumption and pollution that paper bag production and disposal/consumption generates prevents paper bags from ever being a viable alternative to plastic grocery bags. So what are the other, more preferable options?

The above information points us in the direction of reusable bags. Reusable grocery bags are really the one true alternative for reducing the negative impact of disposable bags on our environment. With a growing number of manufacturers of these bags there is an increasing variety of availability in terms of sizes and styles. Make a socially and environmentally conscious choice for bag use today.

Raised Bed Vegetable Gardening For Better Vegetables: Essential Gardening Advice

Any one who has made raised beds for vegetables will give you an enthusiastic thumbs up if you’re considering trying this method yourself. Raised beds give an efficient use of space and the frames are easy to construct and maintain.

Raised bed vegetable gardening has lots of advantages over ordinary garden beds in that the soil has better drainage and will warm up earlier in the spring, providing for an earlier harvest.
The raised bed garden is so much easier to maintain. The higher bed means less stooping and bending when weeding or caring for plants and you never have to step in the beds which prevents the soil from compacting. Because the soil is cultivated deeper, raised bed vegetable gardening provides an ideal environment for root crops such as beets and carrots and, with the looser soil, crop yields are generally greater. Plus the raised beds simply look neater.

Economical Construction
Raised beds are not necessarily expensive to build because the frames can be built from rough cut or even used lumber. The boards can be painted or stained with a non toxic preservative.
The sides of your raised bed vegetable garden should be at least six inches deep and about four to six feet wide, or just wide enough for you to reach the center from either side without having to step into the bed. The walls of the bed will need to be anchored to stop them from falling over and this is best achieved by driving stakes at four to six feet intervals on the outside of the frame.
Once the frame is constructed it is ready to be filled with soil, but not just any soil. The beds should contain a mixture of sand, soil and organic compost material. Using just regular garden soil will cause the beds to pack down and make drainage too hard. Your plants will thrive in the looser soil and it makes an ideal environment for earthworms as well.

A Frameless Option
If you don’t have the option of raised beds, because of a limited budget or lack of materials you can still try your hand at raised bed vegetable gardening following a method the Chinese have used for centuries. It’s really more of a mound than a raised bed but will give you many of the same benefits. Mix equal amounts of compost and sand into the soil to build up mounded beds. These frameless beds may require a little more attention to stop them from eroding or becoming too dry.

Which ever method you select, raised vegetable gardening will make the chores involved much easier. Raised beds are a great way for those with limited mobility to continue to enjoy a favorite hobby. Your garden can grow as your needs grow, simply by adding new beds and the beds look attractive all year long because clean up in the garden is minimal.

And of course, every gardener deserves a place to relax in the backyard. Why not built a pergola. It’s the perfct place to relax with family and friends or for some well earned solitude.

Earth Friendly Parenting With Fleurville Bags

Who could not like the company known as Fleurville, and more specifically, the diaper bags they create?

Few people seem to know about Fleurville bags’s eco friendly production and philosophy. In these regards, Fleurville has invented Green Lam, a very environmentally friendly product that replaces the poisonous Teflon found in most bags and is water resistant and UV repellent. These bags are not only eco-friendly, they are also practical. The excellent interior design engineering can attest to this fact. These Fleurville bags offer a changing pad, a clear clean wipes case and insulated bottle holders. These features were designed into the bag to ensure that your trip with your baby is as easy and clean as possible.

Although less traditional, my personal favorite is the Fleurville DJ Diaper Bag, although the Mothership Bag and the Sling Diaper Tote are also great buys. The latter can be worn over the shoulder, held as a tote, or thrown over like a messenger bag, while the Mothership is great for multiple children and the DJ is unisexual.

Luckily, multiple pockets are great for storing both yours and your baby’s gear. Get use to this, because this bag is stylish and durable enough to be used as a purse, long after the loved ones have grown. If you are into an eco friendly bag that looks great and is functional, then Fleurville bags may be the bags for you.

For The Best Baby Pictures, Use Different Photography Tips For Different Ages

Everyone wants pictures of their new baby to be the best. However, few new parents realize that in order to capture adorable baby photos, the age of the baby needs to be taken into consideration. Before rushing off to take 2 million digital photos of your new bundle of joy, there are several important things to remember.

Even though an infant can’t “pose” for pictures in the traditional way, there are many things that you, the baby photographer, can do in order to produce better pictures. The most important thing to remember is that a baby’s ability to “pose” depends upon their MOBILITY AND STRENGTH… and that translates into the age of the baby.

Before applying any specific photography tips, we need to understand the significant impact that occurs in a baby’s aging process. Once we do, then we can start to obtain truly adorable baby portraits.

0 to 3 Months

At this age, babies are like rag dolls. Except for laying down, they must be held for any pose and never have their head unsupported.

On the plus side however, once you place a baby in a particular position (a.k.a. “pose”), there will generally be little movement. Thus, there is less concern for using an extremely fast shutter speed since the baby has not entered the “whirling dervish” stage.

3 to 6 Months

Babies are finally beginning to hold their head up on their own. However, it is still too soon to expect them to do any “posing” on their own. Since many babies move their head around with little warning, this is the time to take additional safety precautions.

For example, while it was fairly safe to have your camera’s lens within inches of a baby who was under three months of age, it is not advisable when they reached this age.

6 to 9 Months

Babies are just beginning to sit up on their own. You can pose them, but don’t expect them to stay still. If you do, don’t expect anything other than slightly blurred baby pictures. You can minimize the blurriness factor by using as high a shutter speed as your camera and the lighting conditions permit. Try for at least 1/500 second.

9 to 12 Months

Babies typically can pull themselves up and may be starting to walk at this stage. Actions shots are possible, but don’t expect much warning. Get in a comfortable position, or better yet, use a tripod, adjust all your camera settings, and wait.

PATIENCE is the name of the game. With unpredictable movements possible, use a faster shutter speed and don’t move the camera when clicking the shutter button.

18 Months

DEFCON 3… Your baby is walking! Now the photo opportunities will come a little faster. Keep your camera fully charged, loaded with memory, and ready to shoot… at any time! Just because you’re home, doesn’t mean you should pack it away.

Photo Tips For Every Stage

Even though there are specific things to consider during the first 18 months of your baby’s photographic life, here are some golden photo opportunities REGARDLESS OF THEIR AGE:

  • Sleeping and eating are two of the best times for capturing pictures
  • Take numerous candids
  • Avoid taking pictures only from the perspective of standing over the baby
  • Shoot at eye-level of the baby
  • Never be reluctant to experiment with different lighting situations (such as natural light falling upon the baby, resulting in part of their face being in shadow)

Green Energy Is Not A Myth, It Is Available Now And It Is Cheap!

The myth of green solutions has been propagated by companies who would feed on the sincere desires of people to help the environment. Companies would create monster like solar arrays and gigantic wind turbines and sell them for $30,000 or more.

This meant that the only people who could partake in these green solutions where huge companies, or government agencies. But the reality is that it does not take a huge bankroll to create power from the sun. Real, every-day people are using this power right now to take their houses off grid and create real sustainable energy for as little as $200.

Learn To Eat With The Environment In Mind

Using reusable shopping bags rather than plastic and/or paper bags is a good first step in the effort to live a green life, but what about the items you fill those bags with? Are you eating in a responsible manner to promote a healthier planet?

The comedian Carlos Mencia joked that he lived a greener life than vegans because was eating the problematic farting cows (the methane gas from cows contributes to global warming) and vegans eat the plants that product oxygen from carbon dioxide. Well, funny, but not necessarily true.

The problem is that our excessive demand for meat in this country. This contributes to the overwhelming number of cattle producing methane gas. Also, an enormous amount of land is needed to feed the cattle which results in over-farmed land that is stripped of vital nutrients. Eventually, the land becomes useless.

The key is to avoid gluttony and you don’t necessarily have to become a vegetarian to do so. An appropriate serving of meat is 3 ounces, which is about the size of a deck of cards. This is a far cry from a giant T-bone steak or other hunk of meat that we tend to enjoy on our dinner plates.

Eating organic is highly beneficial as well. Organic farming takes a proactive approach to pest control and soil health. Rather than polluting the planet (and our food) with chemicals that are harmful, other types of bugs that eat the harmful bugs are incorporated into their farming methods. When you shop in the produce section and bulk grain section, you avoid heavily packaged convenience foods that add a lot of waste to our landfills. You can also purchase a reusable shopping bag or two made for produce that will help reduce your consumption of plastic bags.

In the end, green eating is healthier both for the planet and for you! It’s probably the best “diet” and living advice ever to simply, go green by eating organic foods and shopping with reusable tote bags!
