One of the most annoying and irritating household pest you can suffer from is fleas, which will be in most homes if you have a family pet dog or cat. These little beasties can be a real pain so its best to get a jump on the bugs, before they start hopping all over you and your loved ones.
For an insect to be so small, fleas can cause huge problems. Fleas are bloodsucking parasites that are classed in an order of insects whose scientific name means, ‘wingless siphon.’
When fleas bite, a tiny amount of anti-coagulating agent is injected with the saliva, to permit easier siphoning of the blood. Both sexes of the species depend on blood to survive and reproduce.
The part that will make your skin crawl- fleas can transmit tapeworms and infections to animals and humans. Fleas are the major cause of chronic hives, especially on the legs of little children, and continual scratching may lead to secondary infections.
Fortunately flea pest control can fall firmly under the banner of diy pest control so unless you have a really serious problem, try a little self help first. Pest control advice will be available from your local supplier who will be well used to the problem so no need to feel embarrassed.
The aim here is to target all the areas where fleas can hide. There are plenty of reliable pest control products on the market to rid our homes of flea infestation.
Pest control products in aerosol sprays can be directed to areas where fleas are hidden. Up to 90% of the flea population lives in the pet’s living area. It is important to kill fleas at the source or the insects that were not exterminated are likely to repeat its life cycle.
There are pest control products that you can use for safety measures to prevent fleas from returning. Below are some natural solutions to provide a healthy barrier between your household and biting fleas.
Natural pest control-
Bathe your pet regularly with mild soap and water not chemical shampoo. Use a flea comb when combing out your pet’s hair.
Fleas dislike the flavour of garlic, and yeast. Add a combination of brewer’s yeast and garlic to your pet’s food. Use about a teaspoon of brewer’s yeast daily for cats and small dogs, and a tablespoon full for a larger dog.
This measure can be doubled during peak flea season. Discontinue use if your pet develops an allergic reaction. Cat owners should be aware that raw garlic is toxic to cats.
Cedar repels many insects, one of the reasons cedar wood is so popular for closets, and bedroom furniture. Cedar based pest control products such as shampoo, oil, and pet mats are available for purchase.
Plant fleabane to repel fleas in the yard or garden. This is an annual growing up to 2 feet high with violet daisy flowers.
Trap fleas using a shallow pan half filled with soapy water. Fleas do not like soap. Place the pan on the floor and set a lamp to shine over the water. Fleas will be attracted to the heat, land in the water, and drown.
One of the best pest control methods you can use is to vacuum. Put flea powder in the vacuum cleaner bag to dust the fleas as you clean house. Place the used bag in the outdoor bin when you are finished sweeping the room for bugs.
Share these valuable tips about pest control- fleas with your family and friends who might be too embarrassed to admit they are also bothered by flea infestation.

Congratulations are in order for the new addition to your family! Whether you have recently welcomed your new baby into the world, or are still waiting for the big day, you are are kind and loving parent who wants the best for your precious little one.
It can be a daunting time picking out a Travel System, Buggy or a Carry Cot.
Hopefully this article will help point you in the right direction, for finding a product that suits you and your baby’s needs, for the right price!
Choosing the correct Travel System or Buggy for your child is one of the biggest purchases you will
make when your new child is born. Travel Systems, Buggys and Carry Cots can cost well over a hundred pounds and will be used by you for many years, and if you have more children in the future a good quality Pram will last as long as you have children.
One of the first main considerations to think about is your lifestyle, do you like walking a lot? Will you be walking over rough ground? Or do you prefer to use the car more? Will you be travelling on public transport with your child a lot of the time?
There are several options to think about these include Traditional Prams, Two in one, Three in One, Buggys, Buggies/Push Chairs, Three Wheelers, Travel Systems and Double/Triple Buggies and Pushchairs.
Traditional Prams
These are suitable from birth, they are large bodied or smaller soft bodied but do not convert to pushchairs. They tend to be large wheeled chassis with full spring suspension. The carry top is detachable from the chassis and has carry handles, carrying these tend to be best over short distances as they can be heavy. They tend not to be easily transportable by car or public transport.
Two in One Pushchairs
A 2 in 1 pram is a lie flat pushchair and separate chassis. The pushchair unit can be used from birth, facing you or facing away. There is normally a choice of chassis, fixed wheel with suspension for walking or swivel for easily manoeuvring in busy places. A two in one pram comes with a removable washable liner and when used with a mattress creates a carrycot.
Three in One
A 3 in 1 pram is a carrycot, separate pushchair unit and chassis. The carrycot is suitable for overnight sleeping (with a safety mattress) from birth until around 6 months. Then the pushchair unit can be used facing you or facing away. The pushchair unit has a reclining back rest and adjustable footrest. There is a choice of chassis available, a larger wheel chassis with fixed wheels and suspension is ideal for walking giving more comfort to you baby and yourself. A swivel wheeled chassis will be lighter in weight, fold smaller, easier to manoeuvre and convenient for the car. Most chassis have adjustable handle heights.
Pushchairs
A lightweight pushchair or stroller is ideal if you will be using public transport, going on holiday and using the car. Some models are suitable from birth. The normally have a lie flat facility with a 5 point harness, lockable swivel wheels and a shopping basket.
Buggies and Strollers
These tend to be quite varied but will have a combination of the following features.
Fully reclining seats will be suitable from birth.
Others are suitable from 3 months or 6 months
Between 1 and 5 position reclining seat.
5 point harness.
Lockable swivel wheels.
Lightweight frame.
Umbrella fold for easy storage
Optional car seat
Three Wheelers
A 3 wheeler pushchair is perfect for walking, whether on city streets or on rougher ground, some models have an optional first stage car seat and carrycot, this gives you a flexible choice. Consider the size of the pushchair folded and whether you have sufficient space in your car or home.
Travel System
A travel system offers a lie flat pushchair suitable from birth and a Stage 0+ car seat, a travel system is ideal for the car, as the pushchair folds compactly to fit in the boot, the baby can be carried around easily in the car seat, the car seat then attaches to the pushchair unit. The pushchair unit is
always facing away from you, the car seat when fitted into the pushchair allows the baby to be facing you.
Double and Tripple Buggies/Pushchairs
A fully recling side by side double buggy is suitable for newborn twins/triplets or a baby and a toddler.

A common new belief that began a few years ago is to include an arts and crafts segment as part of your baby shower’s itinerary. Arts and crafts are a great way to design fun and excitement, and to strengthen bonds between invitees. A lot of women, and even men, savor spending time together while partaking in fun activities like arts and crafts. Today , there are various baby -related crafts that are a blast and will design a great time for your invitees at the party .
One of the newest activities for baby showers is the designing of a baby diaper cake. This is a group affair that all your invitees can do together. It is a great way to start the party , as it creates a mood of togetherness and establishes unity among all your invitees. For this activity , you will need around fifty diapers, fifty feet of a smaller, narrow ribbon, and eight feet of a thicker, wide ribbon. Trim the fifty feet of thin ribbon into one-foot segments. Have your invitees roll up each diaper and tie it in place with a thin piece of ribbon. Ribbon can be baby blue for a boy, and pink for a girl. For a more neutral color, soft green or light yellow work incredibly . Start the base of your diaper cake with twenty-five diapers; stand them together in a circle. Utilize fifteen diapers for the next level of the “cake,” and then eight diapers for the top level of your cake. Make each level separately and tie each batch of diapers, or each level of the cake, with a strand of wide ribbon. Now, pile the levels of the baby diaper cake in order from largest to smallest, and you should have a beautiful newborn baby idea!
Baby bottle sand art is a fun art that provides beautiful souvenirs that your invitees can take home. All you want for this affair is at least the same amount of baby bottles as your number of invitees, different colors of sand, and funnels. Baby bottles can be the simple, cheap ones, and the sand should match your color palette for the baby shower. Distribute the baby bottles among all your invitees. Have them fill the baby bottles up with various layers of different color sand using the funnels, and then close the baby bottles with their tops. These turn out wonderfully, and they are easy to design; they also design great souveniers from which your inviteescan always remember your baby shower. For a considerate touch, you can have ribbon that has been personalized with the Mom’s name and the date of the shower, which is a twist on the newborn gift idea that is actually created by the participants at the shower. You can also have stickers made with the title of the event and the date, and stick them on the baby bottles.
Scrapbooking is an art that so many individuals have come to like nowadays, and also creates a great art at baby showers. You can give each participant a layout page and supplies, and have them craft a background page. These can be assembled to form an album for the baby shower. Any of these ideas will makd the baby shower a smash and offer a unique gift newborn and Mom will cherish for many years to come!

There are a lot of baby products being advertised as the best baby skin care for your baby. The only problem is that these claims are unfounded and what is advertised as the best baby skin care often falls short. In fact you might find your baby suffering from rashes, and other skin irritations due to the chemicals and other irritants found in the average baby skin care products. If you want the best baby health care for your new bundle of joy how do you make sure that nothing irritates the delicate skin of your newborn? Cutting out chemicals and using natural products is a good way to start.
Learn To Go Back To Basics
The best way to go when looking for the best baby skin care products is the natural way. Any product that contains petrochemicals in any amount must be avoided. Petrochemicals tend to be present in a variety of products such as lotions and moisturisers and thus these need to be scratched from your list of things to buy. Products such as petroleum jelly should also be taken of your list when you are purchasing best baby skin care items.
One of the best ways to keep your baby’s skin in great shape is to go for baby lotions made from natural oils. Some of the best natural baby skin care product ingredients include aloe which is a key ingredient of moisturizers and is excellent for taking care of irritations. Another natural ingredient you should look for is chamomile as this can give a very soothing effect when applied to the skin. You should take care of what essential oils you will buy and the best thing to do when you are in doubt is to consult your pediatrician about these products.
You don’t have to break the back to be able to buy the best baby skin care products, as there are a large variety of products that can quite easily fit into your budget and still be able to protect your baby’s health. The easiest way for you to find the best baby skin care product is to have a look in your local health food store as they are more than likely to have the products you need.
You may be able to find the best baby skin care from smaller companies. Smaller companies usually have a bigger commitment to making sure that you get products that are high quality and have a high concentration of all the right ingredients. Supporting a local company could be the best thing as you are more likely to know where the ingredients come from.
If you’re still in doubt as to which are the best baby skin care products out there look for a board or guide that ranks organic and natural products. Make sure to read the labels and look for products that are fragrance and color free. The less synthetic ingredients there are in your baby care products the better.

Car Seats
Your baby needs to be safe ALL THE TIME, and the car is no exception. You need to make sure you have the proper car seat for your child, and it MUST be installed properly. This is very important to protect your child in case of an accident.
When you leave the hospital they will make sure you have a car seat for your child, and may even check to make sure it is properly installed in the car. You have a variety to choose from.
Infant Car Seat
The newest style of baby car seat has a base that is buckled in the car and stays there. The carrier itself clicks in and out of the base in the car. This makes it easier to get the child in and out of the car without having to fiddle with a seatbelt every time. With this type of car seat you can leave the baby in the carrier and take the whole carrier into the store or house with you. This is especially helpful with newborns. As the child gets older you may choose to take the child out of the carrier and leave the carrier in the car.

Convertible Car Seat
Next you will need a convertible car seat. This car seat is used once the baby is one year old and meets the height and weight requirements. Convertible car seats may be placed in a forward or backward facing position. The seat will need to be facing backward if your child outgrows his infant seat, but is not yet old enough to sit facing forward.
When choosing a convertible car seat you have many options. First you can choose if it has the five point harness, or if it has and over the head latch. You can also choose the color and it may even come with a cup holder. No matter which type of convertible car seat you choose, it can be used until your child weighs 40 pounds.
Booster Seat
After a convertible car seat you will need a booster seat. The booster seat can be used until your child weighs 80 pounds. There are different types of booster seats. The first type is a small base that the child sits in, which allows them to use a regular seatbelt. The other kind may be a convertible seat that is also a booster seat. When the child outgrows the convertible seat, you take the straps off and use the regular seat belt instead. The child is still seated in the actual car seat, just with different straps.

Choosing to “go green” and deciding to use reusable bags, rather than disposable bags, doesn’t have to be the fashion “faux pas” that you might think. In fact, using environmentally friendly reusable bags has become somewhat of a fashion statement, a way of letting others know you’re “hip”, “phat” and a part of the current trend of “thinking green.” And fortunately for today’s environmentally conscious, there are new and exciting choices not previously available, that make choosing “green” as smart a fashion choice as it is a responsible social choice. Here are a few examples of how you can be trendy and fashion-conscious, and still do a good deed for the environment.
In May of this year, Lauren Bush (yes, that Lauren Bush, niece of President George Bush) released the second bag in her line of reusable bags to the general public. Her original line, released through Amazon.com, sold 37,000 bags at a price of $59.99. However the new bags, called “FEED 100”, are designed more for everyday use than were the bags of the original line, and are priced at a more moderate $29.99. The bags help to raise funds for feeding hungry children through the UN (United Nations) World Food Program. And with the purchase of each bag, made of 100% cotton and sustainable burlap, consumers provide 100 meals for school children.
Another company that’s helping to make “green” fashionable is LilyEcolo, where you can find a variety of fashionable bags and totes to help you to act daily in a more environmentally kind way. The company “brings audacity, style and color in the sphere of ecological choices,” and offers a range of bag choices from reusable bags which pack small, to the “all-in-one” bag which will hold your wallet, cell phone, makeup kit and more, in an effort to ensure that you’re never left without a reusable tote to fit your purpose. The company encourages people to “shop differently” to “reduce wasting at the source simply by taking the habit of using practical, lasting and reusable bags,” and to daily make a difference in the environment.
Then there are “Baggu” (bag-goo) bags. Baggu is a company that manufactures large, bright, wonderfully colorful bags as fashion and shopping accessories. The company reminds visitors that the average family brings home 1,000 plastic bags a year, and it takes roughly 1,000 years for those bags to decompose. The company further claims that “Using one Baggu for one year replaces 300 to 700 disposable bags.” The bags are made of strong (holds up to 25lbs), lightweight (2 oz) nylon that folds into 5” by 5” pouches. Not a bad choice for fashion-conscious ladies on the go.
Opting to use reusable bags is a responsible choice nowadays. But choosing to “go green” and do your small part in helping to preserve, improve, and protect our environment no longer means having to be less trendy or fashion conscious. There are plenty alternatives to using disposable bags and containers as we go about our daily lives; we simply have to be willing to use them.

Baby showers are one way of announcing to the world that some one is going to be a new mother. Since baby showers are traditionally given to help the new mother celebrate the fact that she is going through one of life’s most important events, you can help to make this event special by seeing that the party looks fabulous. There are many ways that you can accomplish this but a baby shower decoration that shows the amount of though that has gone into it is very special.
Now there are many different baby shower decorations that you can use but having a personalized baby shower decoration makes the party even more special. So what baby shower decorations can you have that will make a baby shower a fun event? This really depends on the amount of money and time that you have.
You can however mix the choice of a lavish baby shower decoration with that of other simple and inexpensive ideas. For instance you can have a little wire baby carriage filled with fresh baby’s breath and other small fresh flowers as a table centerpiece. Another great baby shower decoration would be to have a small stork figurine holding a baby in a blanket near the new mother’s seat.
Now I know that many people have already tried ideas like this, but you can give these baby shower decorations a personal look and revamp them. Instead of medium sized children’s umbrellas you can have miniature parasols that are opened and hanging from the ceiling near each guest’s seat. In this baby shower decoration you will have a lot of party favors like minture perfume flacons, light up pacifiers and small delicious chocolates for the guests.
Other than baby shower decorations for the guests and the new mother you can make the baby shower itself look interesting and unique with some really beautiful baby shower decorations in the room. One type of baby shower decoration that you can try is to have some long clear plastic champagne flutes filled with fresh flowers. From the stems you can have some gaily wrapped mini chocolate eggs waiting for your guest to take home or eat while they are at the party.
As you see these baby shower ideas can be either expensive or simple. The way that you plan these parties depends on the time and the money that you are willing to set aside. The one thing that you can be assured of is that if you take a little effort you can have a great looking baby shower decoration that will last as a wonderful memento for the expectant mother.
